Evangelism Baptist Church- Lobeco, SC

Evangelism Baptist Church Lobeco SC is the owner of the Baptist Retreat. We started this Retreat and use it for a place where God’s people come to be spiritually renewed. Evangelism Baptist Church Lobeco SC is a local body of believers who meet together to edify one another. The Church is the body of Christ. In the Bible, “church” is not a place, or a time, neither is it like a light switch that you can turn on and off. We believe in the preeminence of Jesus Christ. We chose the name, Evangelism Baptist Church Lobeco SC to define one of our hearts main goal, evangelism. Every believer of Evangelism Baptist Church Lobeco SC cares about the lost world around us and wants to see them saved by the gospel of Jesus Christ. Still Evangelism Baptist Church Lobeco SC realizes that our evangelism should coincide with this verse, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” (John 13:35) We of Evangelism Baptist Church Lobeco SC hold each other accountable; not just in our conduct, but in our love for another.

We do not want to play semantics, neither do we want to, “Play Church.” Often we use the term, “Go to Church.” Today, the phrase has become a fad. While it is true that we go to assemble with the Church, such talk only has helped to mar the true understanding found in God’s word. Other common sayings like, “Come on in, it’s time for Church to start.” We do not “start” Church, we as believers are the Church and we meet together. Again, Church is not like a light switch that we turn on and off. Christian have adopted the idea that church is something they do to fulfill some service to God. We of Evangelism Baptist Church Lobeco SC feel that it is easy to get into a ritualistic mindset which eventually ends up turning a work of the Lord into a business like organization. When Evangelism Baptist Church Lobeco SC meets we often discuss these pitfalls reminding us to not succumb to the trends of our day.

What Evangelism Baptist Church Lobeco SC is not. It’s not a house church, mega church, institutional church. etc. We do not agree with the, “Building, boards, budgets, blacktop, bulletins, and big shots,” mentality of today; which has created a disconnect from the true meaning of, “Church.” We strive to be the biblical model found in the New Testament. Therefore we strive to be different but not just to be different.Evangelism Baptist Church Lobeco SC is not following some trend but desires to follow the scriptural design Christ had in mind for His body. While we do not a line or agree on every point, we like how one Christian author, Frank Viola put it, “By “organic church,” I mean a non-traditional church that is born out of spiritual life instead of constructed by human institutions and held together by religious programs. Organic church life is a grass roots experience that is marked by face-to-face community, every-member functioning, open-participatory meetings (opposed to pastor-to-pew services), non-hierarchical leadership, and the centrality and supremacy of Jesus Christ as the functional Leader and Head of the gathering.

Put another way, organic church life is the “experience” of the Body of Christ. In its purest form, it’s the fellowship of the Triune God brought to earth and experienced by human beings.
